Chinawhite nightclub has been one of the biggest names in London clubs for more than 10 years. In this article we take a look back at a legendary club in London.
It’s hard to think of Chinawhite in any other setting than its current glitzy location in the middle of Winsley Street but actually things began for Chinawhite in a little street in Soho in 1998, Air Street. Although many clubs takes years for their reputation to grow and to get themselves amongst London’s best nightclubs this was not the case for Chinawhite (when in Soho), who from the word go were popular with both celebrities and London’s big spending socialites.
Chinawhite had the dynamic combination of a particularly lavish décor, great food, great drink and great music that kept people coming back time and time again. One recognisable feature I remember is the umbrellas. Soon club China White found its self up at the top with all London’s leading clubs with the Chinawhite reviews raving about the dynamic new comer on the club scene. All the top celebrities of the time wanted to get in and it was very tough to do so without the correct club promoter contacts.
Soon Chinawhite was flooded with a constant flash as paparazzi waited out the night by the club’s doors waiting for the almost definite arrival of an A-list celebrities. This went on for almost a decade before the popular nightclub had a setback and was forced to close after their site was leased and redeveloped as a London hotel.
Reopened in 2008, Chinawhite on Winsley Street rocketed right back to the top and has since remained as one of London’s leading nightlife venues ever dominating the gossip sections of the newspapers and glossy magazines with a multitude of stories emanating from the doors of this amazing party spot.
If you visited the original Chinawhite ensure you get on the new Chinawhite guestlist or reserve a Chinawhite club table and see how you think the clubs compare.
